Someone has told you you should be a model, so you are ready to take those first steps to being the next Kate Moss or Jordan. Hopefully we can answer some of your questions here to guide you on your path.
Should I go into modelling?
There are a lot of people out there who would like to be models. Only a small number are going to get work. Of those that get work, only around 1% will make anything like enough to live off their earnings. Life for potential models is tough. You will have to face rejection on a regular basis from potential clients. It makes me wonder why so many of you want to be models in the first place. If you are sure that you still want to go ahead then fill in our online application form.
Am I Right for the Agency?
Geo's Model Management represent a large, but select range of models. Unlike some agencies, you will not be automatically added in exchange for an administration fee. We only accept people we think we can get work for.
What about Assignments?
Clients will contact the agency either by phone or via the internet. The information will be passed on to you, the model.
What about Payment?
Our advertised minimum rate is £50 per hour for commercial work (£75 in London). We take nothing from this. We charge the client a percentage which they pay to us in addition to your fee. As you become more experienced and become more in demand, we will put your price up to reflect this. You will normally be paid by direct transfer, as soon as the client payment has cleared into our account. Occasionally we may offer you a job which does not meet our payment rates. It could be for charity which may be unpaid, or it could just be a job which the client cannot afford to pay the going rate. You may be offered the job, but are not obliged to accept it. We think it is better to work and get some money /experience rather than sit at home and get nothing.
What am I going to have to pay out?
Absolutely nothing. If you have your own photos then just give us copies and we will do the rest. Having said that, if you need photos then we do charge for a portfolio shoot. Go to our Portfolio page to see how we can best help you on the ladder to success.
Am I expected to travel?
It is entirely up to you. You are expected to travel short distances to and from jobs, but long distance travel is voluntary. Your expenses will be paid and if travelling for more than 2 hours you will also get some pay for your travelling time. If you are prepared to travel then you are more likely to get work.
How long have you been in business?
We were established in 1998.
What kind of work can I get?
We deal with all kinds of clients so you can expect commercial work, TV, amateur photographers. If it makes money for our models and they are happy to do the work, then we will take it on.
Can I work for other model agencies?
Yes. Our philosophy is, if we aren't getting you work and someone else is, we have no right to complain. There is only one stipulation. You may not sign an exclusive contract with another agency without giving 1 months notice and fulfilling any jobs which you have already agreed to do.
